Elmie Smit
Elmie Smit is a trained fine artist with a BA in Fine Art from the University of Pretoria and decades of experience as both an artist and educator. Now based in Redelinghuys, she co-curates the Sandveld Gallery and, together with Melvyn Burger, presents Collage Ménage — a collection of new mixed media and collage works exploring shared life, creativity and home.
Melvyn Burger
Melvyn Burger is a South African artist based in Redelinghuys and co-curator of the Sandveld Gallery together with Elmie Smit. His practice spans collage and mixed media, shaped by a background as a scenic painter for the Cape Performing Arts Board and a long creative journey rooted in shared studio work and everyday rural life.
Gina de Oliveira
Gina de Oliveira is a South African artist based on the West Coast, working in mixed media painting. Her work explores the connection between wildlife, land and human presence, using animal forms to reflect on identity, survival and the impact of people on the natural environment.
Joey Koen
“I like to paint flowers in bright colors as well as portraits to order. My preferred medium is oil paint, but also use acrylic paint. My art can be described as realistic. My inspiration to paint the beautiful things helps me to process the dark part of my police career. The value of the therapeutic effects of painting is therefore the ideal way of life. My goal with my painting is that my work will bring joy to its owner and that it will find a special place in his/her home.”
Lachlan Matthews
Lachlan Matthews is a Lamberts Bay-based, self-taught artist working across sculpture and mixed media. Inspired by nature, history and the natural sciences, his work explores form, material and time, with notable public installations and exhibitions across South Africa and beyond.

Richard & Adene Makin-Taylor
Adene and Richard Makin-Taylor are a creative duo presenting a unique lightbox photography exhibition at the Sandveld Gallery. Their work transforms photographic imagery into illuminated artworks, offering a striking visual experience that plays with light, atmosphere and perspective.
Brent Smart
Brent Smart is a skilled leather artisan who will be presenting a live leatherwork demonstration, offering visitors a hands-on glimpse into the craft and techniques behind his work.
Graeme Williams
Graeme Williams is an internationally recognised South African photographer with a career spanning over 40 years, from documenting the political transition to democracy to producing long-term personal photographic essays published in leading international magazines including National Geographic, Time and The New York Times Magazine. His work is held in major collections worldwide and has been exhibited in cities such as New York, London, Paris and Johannesburg. Now based on the West Coast, he continues his exploration of place and people in the region.
At the Sandveld Gallery, Graeme will present a talk and video presentation reflecting on his photographic journey, offering context to his work over four decades and sharing insights into his ongoing West Coast project and the stories behind his images.
Andrea Turner
Based in Lamberts Bay, Andrea Turner is a West Coast artist inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds her. Working across a variety of media, her creative journey has been shaped by both self-exploration and mentorship from Mel Burger. Andrea regularly participates in local exhibitions and produces commissioned pieces, with her work ranging from landscapes and portraits to charcoal sketches, driftwood creations, sea glass art, and sculptural pieces.

Hannetjie De Clercq
Hannetjie de Clercq is a South African mixed media artist based in Redelinghuys on the West Coast, known for her self-developed technique and distinctive visual language. With a career spanning since the 1970s, she has exhibited widely across South Africa and continues to work independently from her studio, Swaeltjie Huis.
Her work explores the intersection between historical symbolism and contemporary life, drawing on medieval iconography while reflecting modern technological and social realities.
Van Wessels
Wilhelm “Van” Wessels is a South African ceramic artist based in Redelinghuys on the West Coast, working across tiles, plates and sculptural forms. Raised in a creative household and introduced to clay at an early age, he has developed a lifelong practice shaped by intuition and hands-on making.
His work blends functional and sculptural elements, often merging nature and imagination as forms shift between faces, birds, plants and landscapes, creating pieces that feel both familiar and dreamlike.
Venue C - The Barn, Corner of Voortrekker & Van Lill Street
Lizzie and Gary Shread welcome visitors to The Barn, a relaxed lifestyle space featuring handcrafted candles, aromatherapy oils and a beautiful country garden setting. It is a calm, sensory experience that blends natural products with the warmth and character of rural living.

Ettiene van Bart
Etienne van Bart is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and community facilitator based in Redelinghuys. His work spans visual art, music, cultural guiding, and tennis coaching, with a strong focus on rural creativity and community development in the Bergrivier region. He offers immersive visitor experiences including art exhibitions, interactive music circles, and guided rock art tours in the Verlorenvlei Valley, alongside grassroots sports initiatives that empower local youth.

Roderick Freemantle
Roderick Freemantle is a South African artist born in Johannesburg in 1951. He studied fine art at Wits University, the Johannesburg College of Art, and Oxford University (BA Fine Arts, 1976) and has worked as a full-time professional artist since 2001. Now based at Redelinghuys Manor, he is known for his landscape-inspired work and for creating his own paints and art materials from locally sourced natural pigments.
Venue F - Die Stoep, 317 Smit Street
Ella Watson runs Die Stoep – Lifestyle Experience, a quirky front stoep and garden stop offering homemade jams, fresh seasonal vegetables, succulents, and fruit trees. Visitors can browse a small stoep shop filled with local produce and handcrafted items, set in a relaxed country garden full of charm and character.
