Phillipa Olivier
An art course, gifted by my husband, for my birthday, introduced me to the world of colour.
I indulge my passion for colour, primarily through oils. My artworks reflect a wide range of interests and emotions. Currently, I’m captivated by exploring the textures and tones of vibrant pomegranates.

With a deep connection to nature, the intricate details, the dance with colours and the dynamic interplay between light and shadow sparks my creativity and inspires me to capture such special moments in various mediums.

You can praise art – you can criticize art – but you can’t ignore art. I have a formal education in Graphic Design. I worked in the industry for more than 10 years. I have always expressed myself in a creative way in a lot of what I do. I’ve been able to be a full-time artist the last couple of years as time became my own again. I host private art classes for children and adults. As an artist with Graphic design background my art tends to be more design orientated. The past few years made me more diligent about my art. I find that I must be creative to stay sane in this upside-down world. My work mediums are oil, acrylic, gouche and ink. I have experience in painting, printing, ceramics.

I love art. Never thought that I would become an artist. When we moved to the beautiful Koue Bokkeveld in 1994 I said that if I could paint, I would paint this wonderful world. In 2018 I started art classes with Hannalie Wuim in Ceres and a new world opened. In 2019 I did workshops with Diedre van Straten in Zastron and began painting with oil. I use the cosmic colour wheel as reference to mix colours from the warm and cold primary colours. A whole new challenge. Painting faces, human and animal are my favourite thing to paint. When I look at my painting and see character in the face I am always in awe.
